Deepak Rawat appointed as new commissioner of Kumaon

Deepak Rawat has been appointed as the new commissioner of Kumaon. He will reportedly take charge of his duties from Thursday. An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from Uttarakhand, Rawat hails from Mussoorie who has also served as District Magistrate in Nainital. He has often been the subject of discussions for his unique style of working and also has a fan following in both Youtube and Facebook.
He received his early education in Mussoorie and did his graduation from Hansraj College, Delhi. He later did his M.Phil from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Deepak Rawat cleared his civil services examination and became an officer of the Uttarakhand cadre in 2007.
