Deer injured, car damaged after collision on highway

A deer was injured and a car was damaged here when the vehicle collided with the animal on the road on Wednesday morning.
According to information received from Jwalapur police, a car was being drive from Roorkee towards Haridwar on the highway outside Shyam Vrindavan Hotel. The car was on the highway when a deer came out of the roadside bushes onto the road, resulting in a collision between the vehicle and the animal. The deer is reported to have sustained considerable injuries while the vehicle was also damaged.
A team from the Haridwar forest division reached the site of the mishap on receiving the information and took the injured animal for treatment. The persons inside the car involved in the mishap also sustained minor injuries and were sent to the hospital for first aid. According to the officials, the persons in the car are safe though the deer was injured in the mishap and was taken by the department for treatment. It is pertinent to mention that since the highway in Haridwar is surrounded by forest area on both the sides, wildlife crossing the road is not uncommon during the night. However, animals crossing the road during the daytime is not a common occurrence these days.
