The Dehradun district administration has auctioned off the property of a major defaulter Pradeep Agarwal for Rs 16.21 crore against his outstanding dues of Rs 12.93 crore to the State government. The auctioned property was in the Ajabpur Khurd area of Dehradun. Agarwal was allegedly stalling the recovery for nearly three years by using pressure through influential people, the Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal said. He claimed that this auction was previously obstructed by fraudulent attempts to manipulate the bidding process. In a bid to deceive the administration, certain individuals, including Sanjeev Thapliyal and his associates allegedly participated in the auction with the intent of acquiring the property at an undervalued price, as per Bansal. He said that the district administration had filed an FIR against them two weeks ago and Thapliyal is now seeking anticipatory bail. Meanwhile, in another significant case, the district authorities also seized a flat in Arcadia, Dilaram and Bakkralwala, as part of the recovery of Rs 78 lakh from Golden Era Infotech Private Limited under the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) dues. The DM claimed that the Dehradun district’s revenue collection has surged from a mere 30 per cent in September to an impressive 95 per cent in February which is the highest in the State. He has also instructed all sub divisional magistrates (SDMs) and tehsildars to ensure complete recovery from major defaulters. The DM also commended SDM Kumkum Joshi and the tehsil administration for their commendable work in these recovery efforts. With strict monitoring and a firm stance against influential defaulters, the administration will ensure that no one escapes legal action, he added.
