Dehradun Citizens Forum organises Mayor Sanvad in Doon

The Dehradun Citizens Forum organised a Mayor Sanvad on Saturday in which all the mayoral candidates discussed their agenda for the city. They also expressed their views on the Green Agenda laid out by the DCF for the city.
In his address, the Congress nayoral candidate Virendra Pokhriyal said that if elected, his focus will be on preserving the greenery of Dehradun. He said that creating new parking facilities and rejuvenation of rivers flowing through the city which have got converted to drains would be his other priorities. Pokhriyal said that intellectuals and the general public will be involved in the decision making process in the municipal corporation of Dehradun.
He claimed that 10 lakh saplings will be planted in the city in the next five years if he is elected as the mayor of Dehradun. Pokhriyal added that the menace of polythene can be prevented by acting at its source of production. He said that the corruption in the Dehradun Smart City project will be exposed.
The AAP mayoral candidate Ravindra Singh Anand said that he will work for installing five lakh CCTV cameras in Dehradun and creating free parking space for 10,000 vehicles. He also emphasised on linking the trans- genders with the mainstream of the society.
The UKD candidate Virendra Singh Bisht promised setting up an eco-task force and implementing the Indore model of waste management in Dehradun if elected. He also advocated a stringent land law for the State.
The BJP’s mayoral candidate Saurabh Thapliyal said that the Sankalp Patra released recently by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will be his agenda for five works. He said that new and high tech community halls will be constructed in every ward. Thapliyal also talked about setting up cycling tracks and paths for morning walks in the city. He also replied to public questions on slums, next hearing of the National Green Tribunal, garbage disposal and increasing substance abuse in the city.
At the start of the programme Jagmohan Mehindirata and Bharti Jain of DCF presented the outline of the programme while Anoop Nautiyal presented the Green Agenda of the forum.
