Dehradun receives scattered rain, more likely today

As rain continued in Dehradun on Wednesday, the Meteorological department warned that more is in store on Thursday.  Dehradun saw scattered rains on Wednesday. The Met department said that the ongoing spell of rain and thunderstorms will continue in some districts of the Garhwal region of the State on Thursday too. A few places in the Kumaon region may also experience rain and thunderstorms. Snowfall may occur at places with height of 3000 metres and above.

The State meteorological centre has issued an orange  warning of   heavy rain/hail and squall (60-70 kmph gusting up to 80 kmph) at isolated places in districts of the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. As per the forecast, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri and Uttarkashi districts of the State.   

The Met department further issued a yellow warning for Kumaon region, saying that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/hail and gusty wind (40-50 kmph) is likely to lash isolated places in some districts of the region.

The provisional State capital Dehradun may witness partly cloudy sky on Thursday  with a few spells of light to moderate rain/thunderstorm accompanied by lightning/hail / gusty wind (40-50 kmph). The maximum temperature is likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius in Dehradun.

The minimum temperatures recorded in various towns of Uttarakhand on Wednesday are as follows: 21.6 degree Celsius in Dehradun, 23.4 degree Celsius in Pantnagar, 13.1 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar, and 13.8 degree Celsius in New Tehri.
