Delay in appointment of special educators is contempt of HC: Negi

Expressing her disappointment over the delay in the appointments of special educators in schools of Uttarakhand even after Uttarakhand High Court orders in July 2018, the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) chief Usha Negi said that the Uttarakhand school education department is in contempt of court for not acting on the orders.

Negi said that it was instructed by the HC to make it mandatory to appoint special educators in every school but so far, no action has been taken by the department concerned which is affecting the education of thousands of disabled children in the State. Meanwhile, Negi directed the secretary of school education to submit the progress report in this matter to the commission.
