Deliberations held on climate change and disaster in Patanjali

A two-day conference on climate change, disaster management and the solution ended at the University of Patanjali here on Sunday.
Representing the university, Devpriya said that disasters are a fact but science, technology and traditional knowledge can be used to mitigate the effects of disasters. She said that the university is working in an organised manner to address this pertinent issue. She announced that disaster management and medication will be included in the university’s curriculum.
Pro vice chancellor Mayank Kumar Agrawal talked about the deliberations held during the two-day event. He said that the recommendations based on conclusions reached in this event will be shared with the World Bank, policy makers and the administration, along with prominent non-governmental organisations.
World Bank India representative Ashutosh Mohanti appreciated the initiative taken by Patanjali and said that the institution will provide scholarships, fellowships and PhD research, along with student exchange opportunities to Patanjali students in disaster management and disaster medicine. Patanjali’s distance learning director Satyendra Mittal thanked the participants while expressing concern at the impact of climate change. He spoke on detail on steps which can be taken to address these issues.
Participants from Spain, Italy, Norway and Nepal along with those from across India attended the deliberations.
