Give 300 units free electricity to every household- Col Kothiyal
In support of the demand of free electricity to every household in Uttarakhand, the state unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organised a march to the residence of the chief minister on Saturday. Led by the president of the state unit S S Kaler and colonel ( retd) Ajay Kothiyal, a large number of party workers assembled at Dilaram Chowk on the day and marched towards the residence of CM. The police however stopped the march near Hathibadkala. The slogan shouting party workers and leaders squatted on the road in front of the barricading.
Addressing the workers, Kothiyal said that the promise of 100 unit free power by the BJP government is only rhetoric. he claimed that the government was on a sleeping mode for more than four years in the state and when the AAP cornered the government on the issue of electricity then the government awakened from its slumber and now in desperation it has said that 100 unit of electricity would be given free. Kothiyal said that there is discordance in the statements of minister Harak Singh and Chief Minister who has clarified that the issue would be discussed in cabinet. He said that 300 units of electricity should be given free in Uttarakhand as the state is producing power for other states too. Giving the example of Delhi where the AAP government is giving free electricity, Kothiyal said that when Delhi which does not produce power can give the benefit then why Uttarakhand cannot do the same? The state president of AAP, S S Kaler said that the BJP government of Uttarakhand is immersed neck deep in corruption. The Vice President of state unit Deepak Bali said that Uttarakhand is called Power surplus state so the people here have the right for free electricity.
The protesting leaders of AAP then courted arrest with a large number of party workers. They were taken to the police lines where they were released.
