Some groups are attempting to alter the demographics of Uttarakhand, sparking public anger that surfaced during Thursday’s clash in Uttarkashi, the Bharatiya Janata Party State media in-charge, Manveer Singh Chauhan said. Talking to media persons about the incident that left many including police personnel injured,
Chauhan said that it is all about maintaining peace, law and order and the government has directed the authorities to take action against the offenders. However, he added that some people are consistently working and conspiring to change the demography of the State. He said that several incidents like young women getting molested by people of a certain community and luring them to elope with them are being reported from across the State and police have been directed to take strict action against them.
“Such incidents have created rage among the public which possibly led to the Uttarkashi incident on Thursday. However, the police have been instructed to take action in the matter and the government is also working to address the issue,” he said.
