Dengue cases continue to rise in U’khand

The spurt in the cases of dengue in the State is continuing unabated. The Health department reported 91 new cases of the disease on Saturday. The total number of active dengue cases in the State is 426. The cumulative number of dengue cases in the State this season is now 2,140.
As per the department data, a total of 1,700 patients have recovered from the disease so far. The authorities reported 34 new cases of the disease from Pauri, 17 from Dehradun, 13 from Nainital, 12 from Haridwar, eight from Rudraprayag, five from Champawat and two from Udham Singh Nagar on Saturday.
The department has so far reported the death of 14 patients from the disease with Dehradun district alone reporting 13 deaths. A total of 876 cases of dengue have been reported in Dehradun this year. In Dehradun the number of the active patients is at 97 now and 52 of them are undergoing treatment in different hospitals.
Dengue is a viral infection spread by the mosquito Aedes Aezypti popularly known as Tiger Mosquito. The symptoms of the disease are persistent high fever, rashes, headache and pain in the joints. In the acute cases the platelets number decreases drastically which may prove fatal for the patient
