Dengue continues to hit life in U’khand

97 new cases take total of active cases up to 415
The cases of the vector borne disease dengue are continuing to increase in Uttarakhand. The State Health department reported a total of 97 new cases of the disease from different parts of the State on Saturday which increased the number of active cases to 415. The cumulative number of dengue cases has increased to 1,544 in the State this season. As per the department data a total of 1,115 patients have recovered from the disease so far while the number of active patients is 415 in the State. The authorities reported 29 new cases of the disease from Haridwar, 19 each from Nainital and Pauri, 15 from Dehradun, six from Champawat, five from Udham Singh Nagar, three from Chamoli and one from Almora on Saturday. The department has so far reported the deaths of 14 patients from the disease with Dehradun district alone reporting 13 deaths. Dengue is a viral infection spread by the mosquito aedes mosquito. The symptoms of the disease are persistent high fever, rashes, headache and pain in the joints. In the acute cases the platelets number decreases drastically which may prove fatal for the patient if not addressed without delay.
