FRIDAY, 08 SEPTEMBER 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The health department has imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on two private hospitals a day after the Dehradun district magistrate Sonika found several irregularities in hospitals regarding dengue disease during her surprise inspection on Wednesday. The department sent notices against two hospitals- CMI Hospital and Kanishk Hospital on Thursday on the directions of DM under the Uttarakhand Epidemic Act. The chief medical officer of Dehradun, Dr Sanjay Jain said that the hospitals have been directed to deposit the fine within three days. During the surprise inspection conducted by DM and CMO on Wednesday, they found that there were reportedly no isolation wards for dengue patients in the said hospitals. The hospitals had also not arranged mosquito nets for the dengue patients lying on the beds in the hospital. The pathology lab established in hospitals had no pathologist available during the inspection and the lab technician present there failed to provide any information regarding dengue tests conducted there, as per the notice issued by CMO. The officials also found irregularities regarding platelet count reports and others during the inspection. Considering all such violations in present vulnerable times, the DM ordered the CMO to issue notices to both hospitals. The administrations of both hospitals have also been warned that the department will take legal action if they do not follow the guidelines of the State administration regarding dengue disease in future, as per the notice issued by the CMO. Sonika has also issued instructions to nominate a magistrate for investigation in the hospitals and directed the department to take strict action under relevant acts against hospitals and labs flouting rules.
