Dengue menace to escalate: Rs 1 L penalty if larvae are found

In latest news from Doon, with the fear of dengue menace escalation after the rain stops looming large, the health department-already on alert mode-has decided to crack the whip by announcing a fine of Rs one lakh if dengue mosquito larvae are found. A dump-yard operator from Doon has already been made to shell out the penalty amount after a large number of larvae were found there.
Notably, dengue cases have been reported from three major cities of the State-Dehradun, Haridwar and Haldwani. Meanwhile, the latest person to be admitted to the Doon Hospital is a 37-year-old man from the slum in Kargi Grant. So far, 20 persons with the dengue symptoms of fever and body ache have been admitted to the hospital and 12 out of them hail from Dehradun district, informed the nodal dengue officer at the hospital Dr Ankur Pandey.
