Dengue patient numbers rise in Haridwar village

The number of dengue patients in Shankarpuri village in Haridwar district has reached 99, according to Health department officials. The department had earlier conducted a health camp in the village and tested the villagers for the disease. On Friday 31 villagers tested positive for the disease. Six patients in a serious condition have been admitted to the Mela hospital.  

The team of Health department has also sprayed insecticides in the village.  Along with this, the villagers have been made aware about dengue larvae by the team.

Earlier, a dengue patient was found admitted in a clinic from where the woman was shifted by the department team to the Mela hospital in Haridwar due to her critical condition. Along with this, the health department team also got to know about the other patients.  Medicines, ORS and other assistance have been provided to these patients.  The district vector borne disease control officer Gurnam Singh, vector borne disease control inspector CM Kanswal and others were part of the departmental team.

Meanwhile, the chief medical officer Dr Kumar Khagendra Singh said that the situation regarding dengue in Shankarpuri village is under control.  He said that on Thursday also a camp was organised in the village where rapid tests were conducted to check for dengue.  Out of 40 samples, 22 came positive on Thursday while 31 were positive on Friday.  Fogging and spraying have been done in the village while medicines are being given to the patients. He said that the villagers need not worry as there is proper treatment for the disease, adding that all necessary arrangements for treatment of dengue patients have been made in the Mela hospital.
