The Congress in-charge of Uttarakhand, Devendra Yadav said that the party may have lost in the Assembly elections in the state but has not lost courage. He also advised the party members to desist from making statements on social media before the party reviews the reasons for its electoral defeat. He said that making statements outside the party forum will be viewed as indiscipline and added that statements made by party leaders on social media will only benefit the opponents of Congress and damage the party. Yadav further said that the Congress workers had diligently worked in the election campaign due to which the vote share of the party had increased in comparison to the previous election. In the 2017 Assembly election the Congress’ vote share was 33.5 per cent which increased to 37.91 per cent in the 2022 Assembly election though unfortunately the number of seats did not increase proportionately. “This is a matter of self analysis for us and the reasons for the party’s defeat will be reviewed after Holi. Attempts will be made to fill any gaps which are found,” said Yadav.
