The ceremonial bath of various deities from mountain shrines- Dev Doli Snan in the Ganga during the ongoing Kumbh Mela will be held in a symbolic manner considering the alarming surge in Covid-19 cases. The Dev Doli Snan is scheduled to be held in Haridwar on April 24 and 25. Meanwhile, a total of 82,531 people took holy dips in the Ganga in the entire Kumbh Mela area from Rishikesh to Haridwar on the occasion of Ram Navami on Wednesday.
Mohan Singh Rawat ‘Gaonwasi’, the president of Devbhoomi Lok Sanskriti Shobha Yatra Samiti said after a meeting with the executive members of the committee on Wednesday that the procession of Dev Dolis at Kumbh and the Ganga Snan will be a symbolic affair as per the new guidelines issued by the government.
The samiti has decided to limit the Kumbh Snan programme of Dev Dolis to be held in Rishikesh and Haridwar on April 24 and 25, and observe it in a symbolic manner, he added.
The committee had made all arrangements for a proper Dev Doli Snan at Kumbh but adhering to the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and considering the surge in the Covid pandemic the committee members decided to curtail the programme and observe it in symbolic manner.
