Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) to develop basic facilities like for sitting, eating and toilet on the Dehradun-Mussoorie trek route for trekkers, tourists and the general public. He told the officials to develop these facilities while maintaining the natural look of the trek.

The CM said this on Sunday while conducting an inspection of the trek route on foot and checking the basic facilities. He also directed the officials to ensure better cleanliness, attractive signage for directions and installation of railing along this trek. Along with this,  measures should also be taken for safety and emergency solutions, he said.

While inspecting the route, Dhami also interacted with senior citizens and seasoned trekkers. He directed the officials to incorporate their feedback in the route development plan.

“The condition of other trekking routes in the State will also be improved so that tourists and trekkers from India and abroad are able to enjoy the natural beauty and culture of Uttarakhand and take back good experiences from here,” the CM said.

Dhami later stated on social media that he had enjoyed tea on the trek between Old Rajpur and Jhadipani while also interacting with the public there. Stating that the natural beauty, sunshine, peaceful atmosphere and clean air make Uttarakhand an ideal tourist destination, he added that the State government is committed to boosting tourism.

Information director general and MDDA vice chairman Banshidhar Tiwari, Pollution Control Board member secretary Parag Madhukar Dhakate and other officials concerned were also present along with the CM, his wife and son.
