Devotees continue to throng Nanda Devi Mahotsav in hordes

In latest news from Uttarakhand, with devotees in their thousands thronging to have darshan of and offer prayer to Mother Nanda and Mother Sunanda during the eight-day 122nd Maa Nanda Devi Mahotsav being organised under the aegis of Shri Ram Sevak Sabha, elaborate police bandobast has been put into place to ensure that the festival goes off peacefully. Police officers deployed at the fair site said that the devotees kept streaming in since early morning. “We are alert round the clock. So far, things are smooth and we will ensure it remains so till the end of the fair,” said a senior police officer.
The president of Shri Ram Sevak Sabha Manoj Sah said that they were taking care to ensure that every devotee could perform the ritualistic offering peacefully.
The former Union minister and MP Ajay Bhatt and Kumaon commissioner Deepak Rawat paid obeisance to the goddesses at the fair.
