Devotion continues to flow- Char Dham pilgrim numbers crosses 15 lakh

The number of people undertaking the Char Dham Yatra has continued to rise consistently at a rate not seen in past years. The number of people who have visited the Char Dham shrines since the reopening of Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri on May 10 and Badrinath on May 12 has crossed 15 lakh. According to the official data, the maximum number of the Char Dham pilgrims have visited Kedarnath with more than six lakh visiting this shrine in the Rudraprayag district.
According to official data, 15, 01,860 people have visited the Char Dham temples so far. As per the data available on Saturday, 18,939 people had visited Kedarnath on the day while a total of 6,07,729 have visited this temple so far. The second most visited among the Char Dham, Badrinath in Chamoli district was visited by 19,391 people on Saturday with a total of 3,57,773 pilgrims so far. In the Uttarkashi district, 11,747 people visited Yamunotri and 11,209 visited Gangotri on Saturday. A total of 2,73,689 people have visited Yamunotri while 2,62,669 have visited Gangotri so far.
It will be recalled that there was a considerable rush of pilgrims to the Char Dham in the initial days of the Yatra. The State government took various steps including requesting VIPs from all States and Union Territories to avoid visiting the temples and implementing the gate system and halting pilgrims temporarily at various places to manage the traffic flow.Most of the issues encountered in the initial days of the Yatra have been resolved though the flow the pilgrims has remained consistently high.
