DGP constitutes committee to curb crimes against women in U’khand

Considering the recent spurt in crimes against women across the State, the director general of police Abhinav Kumar formed a five member committee to curb crimes against women and ensure more effective action against culprits on Wednesday. The committee will work under the supervision of the deputy inspector general (Crime, Law and Order) P Renuka Devi. The committee will draft a comprehensive action plan to take necessary action to curb such crimes.
The committee will conduct an extensive study on various aspects related to crimes against women in the State. These aspects will include the nature of crimes against women, crime rates, identification of sensitive areas, reporting and investigation processes of such crimes and the current status of case resolution in the courts. Besides this, the committee will also assess the assistance and services provided to victims of crimes, the measures being taken by the police to prevent such crimes and the level of awareness in society regarding crimes against women.
Furthermore, the committee will also evaluate the need for infrastructural and human resources across various districts to effectively control these crimes. The findings and recommendations will be compiled into a detailed report, which will be presented to the DGP for further action. The officials said that this initiative aims to enhance the safety and security of women in the State and improve the overall effectiveness of the police force in addressing crimes against women.
