DGP directs police to focus on main roads

Wednesday, 25 August 2021 | PNS | Dehradun

The Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttarakhand Ashok Kumar has directed the City Patrol Unit (CPU), interceptor and traffic police to work on the main roads rather than penalising locals in residential colonies.

These bodies will go to such colonies only in case of accidents and emergencies as per his order. Kumar took a review meeting of all the district incharges through video conferencing about the traffic system of the State.

He said that road safety and smooth traffic are the two main objectives of traffic management and imposing maximum challan for traffic violations is not its sole purpose.

Preventing the loss of life due to road accidents is the main purpose of proper traffic management, stated Kumar. He also asked the officials to take strict action against traffic violators and directed them to increase the percentage of e-challans in the State.
