A passing out parade was organised on Tuesday at Police Line in Dehradun for 231 newly recruited head constables of the Police Telecommunication Police section including 162 men and 69 women after their nine months of basic training. The officiating director general of police Abhinav Kumar was the chief guest at the event. He felicitated the new recruit Priyanka Chamoli for securing the top position in the overall training and indoor activities. Manisha and Himani Joshi were felicitated for securing the first position in outdoor activities. He congratulated all the head constables and said that these constables will play an active role in strengthening police as well as the State in the next 30 years of their service. In this age of technology, it has become necessary for the police to be modern and technically proficient. All the newly appointed head constables will get acquainted with those technologies in the Police Telecommunication Police department and will take this department to a new level, the DGP said. He stated, “It is a matter of great pride that the daughters of our State are participating enthusiastically in new fields. Even today, women have achieved more success in most of the subjects than men. All the districts of our state are included in this convocation parade. You joined the police at a time when we have to implement three new criminal laws from July 1. At the same time, as technology is changing rapidly and the era of Artificial Intelligence is rising, I think that telecommunications will play an important role in incorporating these technologies into the functioning of the Police department.” The DGP said that the new head constables will also contribute to organising the currently prevalent Char Dham Yatra successfully.
