DGP felicitates SDRF team for scaling Mount Gangotri-I

SDRF team is first from Uttarakhand police to have successfully scaled this mountain. Team was led by a woman officer.
The Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttarakhand Ashok Kumar felicitated the mountaineering team of State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) on the successful ascent of 21,889 feet high Mount Gangotri-I. It is the first team from Uttarakhand police who have successfully scaled this mountain. The SDRF team was flagged off by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for the expedition on September 9 and after overcoming several challenges on the way, it hoisted the flag at the mountain’s peak on September 29.
This is the first time in the state when a mountaineering team was led by a woman officer and had two women constables as team members. While felicitating the SDRF team members in Police Headquarters (PHQ) on Tuesday, the DGP praised them for their achievement and announced to give medals and Rs 20,000 as a reward to the team.
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police SDRF, Riddhim Agarwal also stated this mountaineering expedition has enhanced the rescue capability and efficiency of SDRF personnel at high altitudes. Inspector General (IG) of Police (Crime, Law and Order ) V Murugesan, IG (Intelligence and Security) Sanjay Gunjyal, IG (Personnel) AP Anshuman, IG (Training) Puran Singh Rawat, IG (Fire Service) Ajay Rautela and other police officers were also present at the event.
