DGP holds inter-State coordination meeting ahead of Kanwad Yatra

The officiating director general of police of Uttarakhand Abhinav Kumar held an inter-State coordination meeting with six States on Monday in view of the upcoming Kanwad Yatra. Kumar said that observing the rise in traffic during the ongoing Char Dham Yatra, traffic management will be one of the main priorities of the police.
The meeting was held at police headquarters in the evening. The DGP said that he interacted with senior police officials of Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana along with the officials of the intelligence bureau to ensure harmony, safety and law and order are maintained during Kanwad Yatra.
The police also expect a rise in the arrival of Kanwads and will make all the preparations accordingly, especially in Dehradun and Haridwar districts. The police will also ensure tight security in border areas too, he added. The Kanwad Yatra is expected to commence in the third week of July and will reach the State in the last week. Considering rainfall and related issues, the police will gear up the arrangements accordingly, he added.
