The director general of police Abhinav Kumar reached Kedarnath on Sunday to take stock of the security arrangements at Kedarnath Dham. During his visit he instructed the police personnel to behave gently with the devotees. The DGP also directed them to take strict action against those doing videography and making social media reels within a radius of 50 metres in the Kedarnath Dham premises. Besides this, he instructed personnel to ensure crowd management and an effective line system. He said, “It has been 10 days since the doors of Kedarnath temple were reopened for pilgrims so I personally came to see all the security arrangements here. The number of pilgrims arriving here this time is certainly quite higher than the past years and all the departments and agencies concerned are working in coordination to ensure that the pilgrims do not have to face any inconvenience.” The DGP said that since the number of pilgrims is expected to increase more in the coming days, the department will strive to enhance the existing police system to improve arrangements for pilgrims. He said that he has also instructed the district in-charges of Pauri, Rudraprayag and Chamoli to coordinate among themselves and inform the respective senior/superintendent of police about the number of pilgrims or passengers and vehicles departing or arriving from their respective districts for the Dhams in time and implement the traffic management system accordingly. He also stressed that the convenience of the pilgrims should be taken care of and all necessary steps should be taken so that they do not face any problems.
