The State’s Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar held a meeting to review various ongoing tasks being run at the police headquarter level through video conferencing with all districts and zone in-charges at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Dehradun on Saturday. Kumar reviewed the projects and gave directions to the officials concerned. He asked the officials to make all the required security arrangements in advance in view of the counting of votes on March 10 across the state as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. Besides this, he also directed them to make advance arrangements to ensure law and order during the Holi festival and fairs like the Poornagiri fair.
Stating that despite the past instructions, the cash rewards for wanted criminals have not been raised by in-charges, the DGP directed them to execute the instructions soon.
He also asked the officials to expedite the identification process of unidentified dead bodies and make it a priority to tackle the associated issues. He also directed the officers to impose penalties for traffic violations through the e-challan system.
The DGP also asked the officials to deploy more qualified, skilled and willing personnel for the effective work in cyber cells of all districts. He also said that such personnel must be given more rights to do their work more effectively. Kumar directed the officials to publicise the recently issued helpline number 1930 by the central government for the registration of cyber frauds across the state.
