In view of the increasing traffic pressure in Mussoorie, Kempty Fall and surrounding areas due to the movement of pilgrims and tourists, the officiating director general of police Abhinav Kumar directed the circle officer of police in Mussoorie to stay there till May 31 to manage traffic related issues. With the commencement of Char Dham Yatra and the onset of summer vacations for school children, the number of tourists and pilgrims are expected to increase exponentially in the next two weeks. The authorities also observed severe traffic issues in Mussoorie and surrounding areas during the weekend. Considering this, the DGP directed the CO to stay for duty in Mussoorie to handle traffic jams and associated issues at the ground level. He also directed the police to regularly monitor traffic and safety arrangements by drones in Mussoorie and nearby areas. He asked them to continuously take feedback on the traffic in all these areas from the control room. In case of increased traffic pressure, the traffic police officers concerned must make appropriate decisions to either stop or divert the traffic as per the situation before the situation deteriorates. The CO must coordinate with other departments concerned to ensure effective implementation of traffic and other arrangements, Kumar added.
