CM’s decision to help resolve grade pay issue of police personnel
Following the decision taken by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the director general of police (DGP) Ashok Kumar has expressed his gratitude to the chief minister for issuing an order to create a new rank of additional sub-inspector in the Uttarakhand State police service. He said that the CM has given an apt solution to resolve the grade pay issue of police personnel.
The DGP said that there are 17,500 posts of constables and 3,440 posts of head constables but there is not a single post of additional SI in the police department. He said that orders have been issued to create 1,750 new posts of head constable rank and sanction 1,750 new posts by creating a new rank of additional SI as per the directions of the CM. The police personnel will also receive a grade pay of 4,200 as per the orders.
Kumar said, “I believe that this decision of the CM will give more opportunities to police personnel for promotions during their tenure. Besides this, the quality of the investigation will also improve across the State due to the availability of new officers for the investigation. I hope that with this decision, all constables will at least retire as additional SI.”
