Dhami cabinet approves 2025-26 Excise Policy

In latest news from Doon, the Pushkar Singh Dhami cabinet has given its seal of approval to the 2025 Excise Policy under which all liquor shops located at places of religious importance would be shut down by cancelling their liquor licenses. Besides, the licenses will be cancelled if booze outlets are found overpricing against the MRP. The MRP will also be applicable to departmental stores which have been permitted to sell liquor. Further, the system of subletting the liquor shops will be abolished and winery units from the mountainous areas will be given exemption in excise duty for the next 15 years.
A Revenue target of Rs 5060 crore has been set for the financial year 2025-26. A revenue target of Rs 5060 crore has been set for the financial year 2025-26. In the financial year 2023-24, a revenue of Rs 4038.69 crore was earned against the target of Rs 4000 crore. In the financial year 2024-25, against the target of Rs 4439 crore, about Rs 4000 crore has been received so far.
