LED screens at the Char Dham Yatra Transit Camp in Rishikesh will display bhajans, stories from the Ramayan and Mahabharat and information related to the Char Dham Yatra. Weather updates will also be provided to pilgrims.

The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated this during a surprise inspection of the transit camp and registration office on Friday. He directed officials to ensure that the registration system at the camp remains operational 24 hours a day. He said departments concerned including Police, Transport, Health, Water, Tourism, Power and municipal corporations should set up a joint helpdesk under a single-window system to offer all services at one location.

Dhami reviewed facilities at the camp including the registration counters, help and enquiry centre, hospital and lost and found unit. He instructed officials to improve accommodation for pilgrims and to provide coolers, clean drinking water, tin sheds and seating to help them deal with the heat. He also directed the deployment of doctors and availability of essential medicines in the hospital. He emphasised the need for an action plan for crowd management and traffic regulation. He asked for proper coordination between the transit camp and all Char Dham route districts. He also instructed officials to set up a dedicated area for selling local products of Uttarakhand in the transit camp and to make promotional material available at the reception. He said pilgrims should be informed about other destinations in the State along with the Char Dham sites.

The CM also interacted with camp staff and encouraged them to fulfil their responsibilities. He said that the State and its people must act as a partner in the pilgrims’ journey to ensure a smooth experience and that all pilgrims return with a positive impression. Garhwal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey informed that the camp has 24 registration counters and a reserve team in place. Medical services will run round-the-clock and a public address system has been installed at the police assistance centre.

The camp will also have a media centre and volunteers will act as Yatri Mitras to provide information to pilgrims, Pandey said. He also informed that NGOs and other organisations will provide free meals, refreshments and food items. A canteen and drinking water facilities are in place and water tankers will be arranged by the Jal Sansthan. The camp includes four dormitories with 80 beds, he added. The officials concerned said that they have nearly completed all preparations regarding Char Dham Yatra.
