Dhami concludes U’kashi tour after detailed interactions with locals

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami concluded his two-day tour of Uttarkashi after interacting with various sections of society and the Bharatiya Janata Party workers. On Sunday, he interacted with school students and NCC cadets on how to develop border villages. He also interacted with members of women self help groups, ex-servicemen, local public representatives, the business fraternity, bar association and other groups. The CM’s tour came at a time when incidents like an alleged attempt at love Jihad and other incidents have elicited a strong reaction from the locals in Purola, Gangotri and other parts of the district.

During the interaction on development of border villages, the students discussed aspects like health facilities, education and communication facilities. Dhami said that the development of border areas is being undertaken as a priority under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Villages in the border regions are slated to be developed under the Vibrant Village programme. The State government is also connecting the youths of the State to self-employment apart from government jobs. He stressed on maximising the number of home stays in order to boost tourism activities in border regions.

The CM also talked about various Central and State government schemes and the positive effect they were having on the people of the State. Stating that the Centre and State are taking all issues of serving and ex-servicemen seriously, he said that the armed forces have become stronger and more resourceful under PM Modi.

Dhami said that popular religious sites in the State including Yamunotri are being connected by ropeway under the Parvat Mala mission. To boost apple production in border valleys like Harshil, the government has increased budgetary allocation under the Apple mission from Rs six crore to Rs 35 crore which will benefit more farmers, he said.  Stating that the road network to the Char Dham shrines is being expanded, he said that the government is also working to facilitate the Char Dham Yatra through Vikasnagar and Purola areas in the future.

Later, the CM also interacted with BJP workers. He spoke about the progress achieved during the nine years of the Modi government along with the various schemes, projects and plans of the Central and State governments.
