Dhami distributes Rs 172.44 crore under Nanda Gaura scheme

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday distributed Rs 172.44 crore to 40,504 beneficiaries under the Nanda Gaura scheme for the financial year 2024-25 through direct benefit transfer (DBT). Over the past five years, a total of Rs 968.64 crore has been provided to 2,84,559 beneficiaries under this scheme. The scheme provides financial assistance of Rs 11,000 at the birth of a girl child and Rs 51,000 upon passing class XII. In the current financial year, Rs 9.81 crore has been transferred to 8,616 newborn girls, while Rs 162.62 crore has been transferred to 31,888 girls who have passed class XII. Dhami stated on the occasion that the government is taking several measures to promote girls’ education and welfare in the State. He said that besides the Nanda Gaura scheme, initiatives like the Girl Child Education Promotion scheme and the Chief Minister Mahalaxmi Kit scheme are also being implemented to support families across the State. The Women Empowerment and Child Development minister Rekha Arya, WECD secretary Chandresh Kumar Yadav and director Prashant Arya were also present in the event.
