Dhami focuses on Eat Right campaign for a healthy Uttarakhand

In sync with Swastha Bharat, Shashakt Bharat vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the State government has launched the ‘Fit Uttarakhand campaign.
Under this campaign, citizens will be encouraged to adopt a balanced diet, regular exercise and a healthy lifestyle.
Taking a step forward towards the dream of a healthy Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed for the effective implementation of the Eat Right India campaign run by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). He said that this campaign should be implemented speedily. The health department has appointed nodal officers for the effective implementation of the Eat Right campaign.
The public representatives, Secretaries of different departments, district magistrates, heads of the departments and other officers concerned have been asked to coordinate for the success of the campaign.
Under the programme, the general public is also being encouraged to consume less oil, less sugar and less salt in view of the changing lifestyle.
So far the Uttarakhand secretariat complex, Sudhowala Jail premises and the Petroleum University have been certified as Eat Right campuses. Apart from this, other universities, colleges, hospitals, medical colleges and jail campuses have also applied for the certification after completing the norms.
The health secretary R Rajesh Kumar has issued guidelines to all educational institutions and departments in this regard.
CM Dhami said that the Eat Right India campaign will inspire people to adopt a healthy, safe and balanced diet to prevent diabetes, heart disease, obesity and other non-communicable diseases. He said that the youth, teachers, parents and the general public will be made aware of the importance of balanced and nutritious food under the campaign.
