Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has condemned the decision of Congress party to tie up with the National Conference (NC) for the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections of Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing a Press conference here on Saturday, the CM said that the NC has a history of encouraging divisive powers. He said that the Congress party always fiddles with the security, integrity and unity of the country in its quest for power. The CM said that the NC has nurtured terrorism and Jihad in Kashmir and the decision of Congress to forge a pre-poll alliance with this party has exposed it before the people of the country. Putting up 10 questions for former president of Congress Rahul Gandhi, the Uttarakhand CM asked- whether the Congress party agrees with promises made in NC manifesto including a separate flag for J & K. The CM said whether the Congress supports holding talks with Pakistan and is in sync with the decision of NC to start LOC trade with Pakistan.
“ Does the Congress support the demand of allowing the people engaged in the terrorists activities and stone throwing incidents in the government jobs and bring back the period of terrorism,’’ Dhami asked.
Dhami added that the NC has made a promise to restore article 370 and review the reservations for scheduled castes and tribes and other backward classes and said that the Congress should clarify whether it supports it. The NC also intends to change the names of places such as Shankaracharya hill and Hari hill and name them with words having Islamic meanings.
It is worth mentioning here that the elections for the 90 member Assembly will be held in three phases on September 18, 25 and October 1. The counting of votes is scheduled for October 4.
