Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a pre-budget interaction with citizens involved in various sectors on Saturday. Public representatives and those involved in the industry, dairy development, tourism, commerce, educationists and scientists, progressive farmers and others gave their suggestions regarding the budget on the occasion. Addressing the stakeholders, Dhami said that the State government will soon present the budget for 2024-25. As done last year, the government has sought suggestions from the public regarding the budget this year too. He said that it is important to prepare the budget considering the public suggestions and sentiments. Interacting with the public to better understand the aspirations and capacity of the public is the most important part of preparing a budget, Dhami said.
The CM said that it is necessary to raise the GSDP of the State to make Uttarakhand a leading State in all sectors, for which collective effort is needed. “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the State is achieving greater heights in progress. Commerce and industry have scaled new heights due to Bharatmala, Parvatmala, dedicated rail front corridor and other such projects in the State. Due to PM Modi’s blessings the various ambitious projects like the Manaskhand Mandir Mala, all-weather road, elevated road, ropeway projects, Vande Bharat and the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project are underway in the State.
Qualitative changes in the economic scenario of the State are visible due to these projects. The State government has also made necessary changes in various policies to benefit more people. The State government has made a positive atmosphere for investment in the primary sector along with alternate energy, tourism and industry. The Global Investors Summit held in December last year saw memoranda of understanding worth Rs 3.56 lakh being signed. We are making all efforts to ensure that better results are achieved in the State from the investment proposals. Our intention is clean, our thinking clear and our vision is broad. The current structure of the economy and the emerging momentum gives us reason to believe that the momentum will increase further in the economy in the coming times. Our collective efforts will help in strethening the State’s economy,” the CM said.
Finance minister Prem Chand Agarwal said that the government has worked on making the budget a people’s budget. Suggestions are being sought from across the State on the budget.
Doon University vice chancellor Surekha Dangwal, UPES vice chancellor Ram Sharma gave suggestions related to higher education. Tehri district Panchayat chairperson Sona Sajwan suggested that financial grants for Panchayats should be made considering the geographical conditions. Uttarakhand State Council of Science and Technology director general Durgesh Pant suggested that investment should be made in knowledge capital and human capital while also stressing that a knowledge-based economy should be encouraged in the State. Vipin Gupta and Pankaj Gupta from the industrial fraternity along with Anil Goel also gave suggestions.
