Dhami inclusion in star campaigners list shows his ascending stature

Seemingly impressed by a series of decisions taken by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the central leadership of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to make maximum use of him in the campaign of Lok Sabha elections in different parts of the country.

The BJP has included the name of Dhami in the list of star campaigners of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir. His name is placed alongside the party stalwarts such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, national president of BJP J P Nadda, union ministers Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath in the list of star campaigners. Notably, Dhami is the only leader from Uttarakhand to find a place in the list of star campaigners of many states.

The reason for the preference given to Dhami over other chief ministers of BJP ruled States can be attributed to his decisions on Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and promulgation of Uttarakhand public and private property damage recovery ordinance-2024 (anti- riot ordinance). Similarly, the decision of the Dhami government to enact a stringent anti-copying act which acted as template of a similar act by the Central government and action against the land Jihad in the State has also caught attention of the central leadership of the party. The BJP high command is of the opinion that with a series of tough decisions, Dhami has endeared himself to a large section of the society and is popular among youth. The list of star campaigners of different States released by the BJP on Wednesday suggests that apart from Uttarakhand where elections are being held in the first phase, the BJP will use Dhami in many other states.
