The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday directed the Transport department to impose hefty fines on those involved in traffic rules violations like overloading, high speed, drinking and driving and other violations. Such serious violations put other people’s lives at risk and cause several accidents. Dhami stated this during his surprise inspection of the assistant regional transport office (ARTO) of Ramnagar in Nainital district. He asked the officials concerned to take possible measures to minimise road accidents, especially those caused due to negligence and ignorance. He inspected the ARTO premises and checked various documents and records in the office. He said that the government is working in every department with the basic mantra of simplification, solution, disposal and satisfaction for the general public. He said that the government is paying special attention to strengthening the online system across the State to provide all services conveniently to the public regarding the Transport department. Other departments are also working to ensure that maximum facilities can be available to people in their homes at their convenience. The CM said that in order to provide services at the convenience of the public, all the departments have been instructed to work by adopting the work culture of serving the public.
