Dhami meets PM Modi, extends invitation for 38th National Games

Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday. In the meeting Dhami extended an invitation to the PM to attend the opening ceremony of the 38th National Games to be hosted by the State. He also presented a Shawl made by the villagers of Malari village of Chamoli to the PM.

The CM also presented the PM, a replica of the Narayan Ashram.

In the meeting Dhami informed the PM about the progress of different development projects in the State. He said that the progress of the work on the first phase of the Rishikesh- Karnprayag railway project is currently in progress . He said that the survey work of the Tanakpur – Bageshwar railway project is also complete. The CM requested that the entire financial burden of the project should be borne by the Union government.

Dhami suggested that the old railway station of Rishikesh should be closed and the train services should operate from the new Yog Nagari Rishikesh railway station. He said that the use of the land of the old railway station should be made for improving the road system and traffic in Rishikesh.

Informing the progress of the Jal Jeevan mission, the CM requested that the remaining amount of the central grant fit the project should be released.

He expressed gratitude to the PM for selecting Rishikesh as the iconic city for river rafting. Dhami requested that in view of the limited financial resources of the State, the central assistance should be provided to it for the ambitious Haridwar- Rishikesh Ganga corridor and the Sharda corridor projects.

In the meeting the CM informed the PM that the state government is planning to enter a MoU with Iceland for tapping the geothermal energy. He said that the necessary NOC from the union ministries of Environment, Forest, Foreign and Renewable Energy for the MoU have been obtained. The CM requested for the technical and financial assistance for the project so that Uttarakhand is able to play a key role in achieving the target of Carbon Net Zero emission by the year 2070.

He also requested approval for Rishikesh bypass, Haridwar bypass (package II), Dehradun-Mussoorie connectivity, Dehradun ring road, Champawat bypass, Haldwani, Lalkuan and Kathgodam bypasses and the Manaskhand project.
