Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home minister Amit Shah and Defence minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Tuesday. In his meeting with the PM, Dhami apprised him about the development schemes which are operational in Uttarakhand. He thanked the PM for his guidance and the cooperation in development of the state.
In view of the limited financial resources of the state, CM requested that the GST compensation to Uttarakhand should be extended. The period of GST compensation for the states is ending in this year (2022). He also requested that Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) should be set up in Uttarakhand to give impetus to latest technique and research in field of science in Uttarakhand. Dhami also requested the PM that a National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) should be established in the state.
He told the PM that in view of vast scope of horticulture in Uttarakhand a horticulture package of Rs 2000 crore should be given to the state on the lines of Kashmir. CM also raised the issue of THDC limited and requested that an initiative for an amicable out of the court settlement on the issue of transfer of share of Uttar Pradesh (UP) to Uttarakhand should be taken up.
The CM of Uttarakhand also requested that an approval for the ‘Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission’ should be given to link the temples of Kumaon division with the tourism on the lines of the famed Char Dham Yatra. He also requested that the approval to start air services from Pithoragarh airstrip should be given.
CM informed PM Modi that the DPR of the Rishikesh- Uttarkashi rail line has been prepared after final location survey. He also requested that the Dehradun railway station should be shifted to Harrawala. He also advocated for setting up All Institute of Ayurveda in Rishikesh to promote Ayush in the country.
He said that a 5 km long tunnel and 20 km new road link would reduce the distance between Jollyngkang and Bedang by 161 km. Similarly a 22 km long tunnel from Sipu to Tola would connect the Darma and Johar valley. Dhami added that a 30 km long tunnel from Lapthal to Milam would link Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts. He said that approval for these three tunnels should be given.
