Dhami offers prayers at Kedarnath shrine

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the Kedarnath shrine in Rudraprayag on Friday and paid his obeisance to the deity. The portals of the Kedarnath temple are slated to be closed to the public for the winter on Saturday. During his visit the CM met the Teerth Purohits, pilgrims and local people.
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the State government is committed for all round development of Kedarnath Dham, He said that development works are being undertaken at a fast pace in Kedarnath which are giving a new dimension to the economy of the area and the local population is also getting new employment opportunities.
Dhami said that the number of pilgrims visiting Kedarnath is increasing every year due to better management of the Yatra by the government. He said that all the pilgrims were rescued in time during this year’s natural disaster.
The chief minister’s visit a day before the closing of portals assumes significance in the wake of the ensuing by-election in Kedarnath. The ruling BJP has fielded former MLA and State head of its Mahila Morcha Asha Nautiyal while Congress has fielded its former MLA Manoj Rawat.
It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has got a special association with Kedarnath and he has visited the shrine many times in the past. The PM himself monitors the progress of the development activities in Kedarnath. After the death of the incumbent BJP MLA Shaila Rani Rawat, CM Dhami had promised the people of Kedarnath that he will function as the legislator of Kedarnath till a new MLA is elected from the constituency.
