Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna was the son of Himalaya and his determination was also like the Himalaya. Dhami said this after garlanding the late Bahuguna’s statue near the Clock Tower in Dehradun on the occasion of his birth anniversary on Monday.
Dhami recalled that Bahuguna was an able administrator, impressive orator and a strong political leader. He had made a different identity for himself in Indian politics on the basis of his intellectual talent, said the chief minister.
“While serving as the chief minister Uttar Pradesh and then as a Union minister, Bahuguna got a number of schemes started and took many steps in the interests of the state. He was always eager for the development of mountain states. The works done by him will always continue to provide inspiration,” said Dhami.
Former chief minister Vijay Bahuguna, cabinet ministers Subodh Uniyal, Ganesh Joshi, Saurabh Bahuguna and Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ were also present on the occasion.
