The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami released the Bharatiya Janata Party’s manifesto for the ensuing civic elections, describing it as a guarantee for development in urban bodies of the State. The manifesto, unveiled at the BJP’s State headquarters, highlights the State government’s achievements, future plans for urban development and the BJP’s commitment to elevating the standard of living for every citizen. The party also released separate manifestos for all 11 municipal corporations in Uttarakhand. During the event, the CM emphasised the need for a triple-engine government in urban bodies, the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and the inauguration of national games in the state. Dhami stated that the manifesto serves as a roadmap for the comprehensive development of all urban areas, with a focus on transparency, accountability, and progress.

The manifesto includes plans to strengthen urban infrastructure through initiatives like the Swachh Bharat Mission, Smart City projects and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The BJP also emphasised its commitment to women empowerment through schemes like Lakhpati Didi, Kanyadhan and Gaura Devi Yojana. Besides this, the manifesto outlined extensive support for youth, mentioning skill development programmes and self-employment initiatives. Dhami stated that these efforts have placed Uttarakhand at the top of the NITI Aayog’s Sustainable Development Index and reduced the unemployment rate in the State to 4.4 per cent outperforming the national average. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing the UCC by January 2025, making Uttarakhand the first State in India to do so. He assured that legal training for its implementation is nearly complete and that UCC will ensure equal legal rights for all citizens.

Dhami further said the government’s achievements in curbing exam malpractices by introducing strict anti-copying laws and providing over 19,000 transparent government job opportunities. He also highlighted measures to address love jihad, land jihad and riot-related crimes with stringent laws and actions. Taking a dig at the opposition, Dhami accused the Congress of harbouring a Ravana-like mindset and criticised their lack of tangible results, accusing them of misusing public funds for unproductive schemes. He urged BJP workers to connect with voters and emphasise the BJP’s track record in delivering results, from the construction of the Ram Temple to the abrogation of Article 370.

Looking ahead, Dhami expressed optimism about 2025, which marks Uttarakhand’s silver jubilee. He described it as a year poised for significant achievements, including the victory of BJP candidates in civic elections, the implementation of UCC and the launch of national games under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He appealed to the public to extend their support to the BJP, promising continued progress under the party’s leadership. The State general secretary Aditya Kothari also said that specific plans for other municipal areas will also be unveiled in the coming days.
