Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has requested the Union Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to facilitate operation of adequate number of trains from Delhi, Mathura, Lucknow and other cities to Tanakpur in view of the famous Poornagiri Mela. In a letter written to the Union minister, Dhami stated that the Poornagiri Mela will be held at the Poornagiri Shakti Peeth at Tanakpur in Champawat district from March 9 to June 9.
The Railways has so far been providing additional rail services from various parts of the country to Tanakpur. However, it has been seen that there has been a consistent increase in the number of people visiting the Poornagiri Mela. Considering the convenience and safety journey of the devotees, Dhami has requested Vaishnaw to increase the rail services provided to people wanting to reach this destination. He has requested that additional rail services to Tanakpur be provided from various locations especially Delhi, Mathura and Lucknow among others.
