Dhami seeks help from Shah for ambitious Him Prahari project

Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami apprised the Union Home minister Amit Shah about the ambitious Him Prahari scheme of his government. The scheme intends to prevent migration from the border districts of the state. In his meeting with Shah, the Uttarakhand CM requested that the Union government should provide help to the state government for implementing the scheme.
He said that the Him Prahari scheme would help in preventing migration from the border districts of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Champawat and Khatima of Udham Singh Nagar district. Apart from this the scheme would help in disaster response and relief operations during natural disasters.
He said that the scheme would be implemented with the help of police, Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). The Him Prahari’s would get a stipend from the government for settling in border districts. Dhami said that a sum of Rs 5.45 crore would be spent on the scheme initially. He also requested that a sum of about Rs 25 crore per year should be provided to the state for modernisation of police force in the state.
