Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami sought suggestions of Teerth Purohits to further improve the Char Dham Yatra, while stressing that all arrangements for the pilgrimage will be completed on time. Members of the Uttarakhand Char Dham Teerth Purohit Mahapanchayat and Purohits of the Char Dham met Dhami at the CM’s residence here on Friday and thanked him for the focus being laid on the winter Char Dham Yatra.
Dhami said that the State government is working with all the Teerth Purohits and aiming to improve the Char Dham Yatra system further. The State government will complete preparations for the Yatra before the portals of the Char Dham are opened to the public. The government is also working consistently to encourage the winter Char Dham Yatra, the CM said. “We are elaborately publicising the winter Char Dham Yatra. The gaps we found in the pilgrimage last year are being resolved this time. The administration will hold a meeting with the Teerth Purohits before the start of the Yatra. Along with the Char Dham, we also have to develop and publicise other important religious and tourist locations to maximise the number of visitors in such places. The Char Dham Yatra is the route to bring prosperity in Uttarakhand,” Dhami said.
The CM further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has special affection for Uttarakhand. The grand reconstruction of Kedarnath is being undertaken under PM Modi’s leadership while work is also being executed on the Badrinath masterplan. Stating that Modi has always encouraged focus on Char Dham, the CM said that the PM has assured all necessary assistance to the State for boosting the winter Char Dham Yatra.
Members of the Uttarakhand Char Dham Teerth Purohit Mahapanchayat commended the steps taken by the government to boost the Char Dham Yatra and its focus on the winter Yatra. The Mahapanchayat’s general secretary Brijesh Sati opined that the Char Dham are being consistently developed under Dhami. The CM has also invited the PM to Goddess Ganga’s winter abode at Mukhwa, which shows Dhami’s sensitivity towards the Char Dham and Teerth Purohits, he said.
Garhwal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, Mahapanchayat head Suresh Semwal, various members of the Teerth Purohit fraternity and officials were also among those present on the occasion.
