Dhami striving for success of 38th National Games

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is putting in extra effort to ensure the successful organisation of the 38th National Games to be hosted by Uttarakhand. The National Games are commencing on January 28 and will culminate on February 15. The CM camped in New Delhi on Monday and Tuesday to extend invitations to the prominent personalities to attend the premier sports event. On Monday, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and requested him to attend the inaugural ceremony of the sports event being hosted by the State. The PM has accepted the invitation and he is expected to inaugurate the National Games.
On Tuesday, the CM met the Union minister for Sports Mansukh Mandaviya to invite him for the event. Informing about the preparations being made for the successful hosting of the NG, the CM said that more than 10,000 players will participate in the National Games. He said that the games will induce a sports culture in the State. The CM said that the sports infrastructure is being developed in such a manner in the State so that the players get the facilities of international level. In the meeting the CM also requested the minister for financial assistance for construction of a high altitude sports Centre at Deedapani of Almora and setting up a multipurpose sports hall in every block of the State.
The CM also requested Mandaviya to approve the proposal of the State government regarding operation of the ice skating rink in Maharana Pratap Sports College in Dehradun and for upgrading the adventure sports training centre in Shivpuri. The Union minister assured the CM that every possible support will be given to Uttarakhand for promotion of sports and development of the sports infrastructure.
Dhami also met the Union Petroleum and Natural Gas minister Hardeep Puri in New Delhi on Tuesday and extended an invitation for the National Games.
It is pertinent to mention here that the CM Dhami is taking special interest in the National Games. He met the president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) PT Usha to clear confusion on the dates of the Games. The State government also made changes in the sports administration and appointed special principal secretary Amit Sinha as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the National Games. The CM also made it a point to attend the unveiling ceremony of logo, anthem, tagline and jersey of the event being hosted by the State.
