The Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was present during the reopening of the portals of Kedarnath on Friday as the ‘Mukhya Sevak’ and that there is nothing objectionable in this. Responding to the Pradesh Congress Committee president’s statement, the BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that Dhami calls himself the Mukhya Sevak and had gone to Kedarnath as the State’s head and not as a VIP. The Congress is linking the CM’s simplicity and cordial behaviour towards the public with VIP culture, which is laughable. “The Char Dham Yatra is the backbone of the State’s economy. Devotees from across the nation and abroad visit the Char Dham. The Congress is unable to digest the rising number of pilgrims and the improving economy of the State. Since the construction of the all-weather road and with the Badrinath and Kedarnath townships taking up a new form, the number of pilgrims undertaking the Char Dham Yatra is breaking records every year. In such a scenario, the Congress is unable to digest the heritage revival and economic progress in the State,” Chauhan claimed.
The BJP State media in-charge said that the BJP had written to all State’s to avoid VIP darshans during the first 15 days of the Yatra for the convenience of the pilgrims. There was a bustling VIP culture during the tenure of the Congress governments in the past. However, during its term, the BJP government focused on improving basic facilities in the Char Dham and enhancing the connectivity, Chauhan added.
