Terming Pushkar Singh Dhami’s three years as chief minister so far as incomparable, the Bharatiya Janata Party has congratulated him for “historic decisions”. The BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt said that work is underway at a swift pace under Dhami to develop Uttarakhand while also maintaining its original form.
Addressing the media here at the BJP State office on Thursday, Bhatt said that during his three years in office so far Dhami took various decisions to develop the State while maintaining its form as Devbhumi, which have become an example for other States. “Uttarakhand became the first State in India to implement the Uniform Civil Code. Other States are now attempting to implement this law. A strict law was also enforced in Uttarakhand to check forced religious conversions. Thousands of acres of land were freed from illegally built religious constructions to dismantle attempts at land jihad. A strict law was also enacted against some mischievous elements which used to damage government property under the pretext of agitations. As a result of this law, the guilty will be made to compensate for the damage they cause to public property. The BJP State government has taken various steps in public interest ranging from 30 per cent reservation for women in State government jobs and provision of 30 per cent or upto Rs one lakh subsidy to women for self-employment to interest-free loan of upto Rs five lakh to women self help groups. About 80,000 women have benefitted so far under the Lakhpati Didi Yojana which aims to benefit 1.25 lakh women by 2025. Similarly, ambitious schemes are being made to benefit youths, farmers and other sections of society. These schemes will boost development and will play an important role in making Uttarakhand prosperous,” the BJP State chief said.
Bhatt further said that the State government had enacted the strictest anti-copying law in the nation in addition to taking other proactive measures with special focus on home stays, the production of coarse grains, new sports policy and other aspects. He said that the State government had also laid special focus on providing employment in various government departments. Advertisements for recruitment to 19,000 posts in government departments are to be released in the near future. He further claimed that the Dhami government has maintained a zero-tolerance policy on corruption with 63 persons having been acted upon for corruption.
