Dhan Singh Rawat receives Silver Elephant award

The governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel presented the prestigious Silver Elephant award of ‘India Scout and Guide organisation’ to the Uttarakhand cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat in a programme organised at Raj Bhawan in Lucknow on Wednesday. She appreciated Rawat for his efforts to strengthen the Scout and Guide movement in Uttarakhand and inculcating positive thinking in the youngsters.
Speaking on the occasion, Rawat said that scouting is a strong platform to develop a sense of discipline, unity, service and patriotism in the youngsters. He said that the Uttarakhand government is working to expand the activities of the Scout and Guides in the schools and colleges of the State and making them more effective.
Expressing gratitude to the Scouts and Guides organisation for honouring him, Rawat said that the organisation is playing a key role in physical, social, mental and spiritual development of the youngsters through its activities. The organisation is also strengthening the sense of global brotherhood. The minister added that the honour bestowed on him will further motivate him to work more dedicatedly for public service and empowerment of youngsters.
The minister also participated in the 19th National Jamboree of Scout and Guides. He met the team of Uttarakhand participating in the Jamboree. The Scouts and Guides welcomed the minister who congratulated them and said that the scouting develops leadership qualities in the students.
