Dhanuka Agritech to give annual KVK Awards to recognise excellence in agricultural extension

The recently concluded 17th Agricultural Science Congress, organised by the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences at the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) was marked by the acceptance of Dhanuka Agritech’s proposal to recognise the best Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across India. The initiative, endorsed by Himanshu Pathak, president of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS) and secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR, aims to honour outstanding contributions to agricultural extension and innovation.

The Uttarakhand governor Gurmit Singh and chief minister Pushhkar Singh Dhami expressed their views on the occasion. In their addresses, they urged the scientific community to spearhead a new revolution in Indian agriculture through innovation and advanced technologies. Highlighting the need to bridge the gap between research and practice, they emphasized the swift transfer of technology from lab to land to boost farmers’ prosperity and drive national agricultural growth.

Expressing his gratitude, Dr. R.G. Agarwal thanked Dr. Himanshu Pathak for accepting the proposal and reaffirmed his vision of enhancing farmer prosperity through public-private partnerships. He emphasized that the KVK Awards are a small yet significant step in recognizing and motivating KVK scientists, who play a pivotal role in disseminating agricultural technology.

Under the Annual KVK Awards, Dhanuka Agritech will confer annual awards comprising cash prizes, trophies, and certificates to the best-performing KVKs and extension scientists across the country. The proposal was highly appreciated by Dr. Pathak and other eminent scientists, recognised it as a significant step toward strengthening India’s agricultural extension system. The prestigious event brought together over 2,000 participants, including eminent agricultural scientists, policymakers, and industry experts from across the country. It served as a platform to showcase cutting-edge research and innovations aimed at transforming Indian agriculture.
